Mello sits in a space where accuracy genuinely matters, so we're open about where our information comes from and what it is — and isn't.

What our content is built on

Mello's educational content and the clinical logic in the app are referenced to established veterinary sources, principally the WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) Diabetes Management Guidelines (2022) and the ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine) consensus guidance on feline diabetes (2022). Where we describe target ranges, thresholds or feeding principles, they trace back to guidance like this rather than to opinion.

What Mello is — and isn't

Mello is a tracking and communication tool, and our guides are educational. We are careful never to position Mello as medical advice or a substitute for your vet. Diabetes is managed individually, and your vet knows your pet — our role is to help you record clearly, understand the basics, and arrive at appointments prepared. Every clinical decision remains theirs and yours together.

How we keep it trustworthy

We aim to reflect mainstream veterinary consensus, to state ranges in the units UK owners and vets use, and to keep safety guidance — especially around low blood sugar and insulin handling — conservative and clear. Where guidance evolves, we update.

If you ever find something here that your vet contradicts, follow your vet. They see your pet; we don't.
